Moving Forward A Simple Path to Joining The Highlands

Exploring senior living? At The Highlands, we simplify the process. Start with a tour to learn about Life Care benefits, contract options, and amenities. If interested, apply to our Future Residents Club to secure your spot and enjoy membership benefits—ideal even if your move is months or years away.

5 Tips To Prepare for Senior Living

1. Clarify What You Want from Your Future

At The Highlands, we encourage future residents to think intentionally about the lifestyle and support they want – now and in the years ahead. Start by making a detailed list of your priorities. As you tour communities, note what aligns with your list, what doesn’t resonate, and any new services or amenities you discover along the way.

Many of the services and amenities you may be looking for can be found at The Highlands, including:

  • Transportation
  • Home maintenance, housekeeping and groundskeeping
  • Delicious chef-prepared meals
  • Casual, formal and private dining rooms
  • Indoor heated saltwater swimming pool and gym
  • Gift shop, library, paint and art studio
  • Community garden and outdoor walking trail
  • Cultural Center

2. Make Your Decision Confidently

Once you’ve toured your top choices, review your list, your finances, and – most importantly – how each community made you feel. When you’ve found a place that feels like home, complete an application, select your residence, and finalize any necessary paperwork. At The Highlands, we streamline this process and guide you through every step. Learn more further down this page.

3. Before You Move In Get Involved

Becoming part of the community early can make your transition smoother and more enjoyable. Many residents tell us that getting involved helps them make new friends, learn about community life, and feel at home faster. Our Future Resident Club is a great way to immerse yourself in life at The Highlands.

4. Approach Downsizing & Moving With Confidence

Downsizing and moving can feel daunting, but this chapter can also be filled with excitement and joy. We offer a variety of helpful resources to support you in your journey.

5. Focus On All the Good to Come

As you near the final stages of moving, look forward to all the new possibilities, friends and services and amenities on the horizon. After all, there’s so much to come, especially if you choose The Highlands.
